Founder's note

I've spent the last 30 years making money for companies. From the commercial floor of a £210m beer and wine business, to raising the investment behind a £146m rural broadband roll-out, my career has been about securing the funding, running the £80m brand P&Ls, winning the government grants, and tripling turnover through patient, deliberate growth.
I started Salmon Financial Solutions because I no longer wanted to do that work for boardrooms. I wanted to do it for people. The corporate structure dilutes the impact — and after 30 years, I'd rather sit at a kitchen table, or across from a business owner, and apply the same rigour to the things that actually shape someone's life.
That isn't selling a product. It's understanding what you genuinely need, researching the very best options across the whole of the market, and being a proper commercial sounding board — for individuals planning their family's future, and for business owners who want boardroom-level thinking applied to their personal dreams and aspirations.
Planning, done well, is slower and quieter than most firms make it. It starts with a proper conversation about what actually matters to you — the family, the business, the move, the next chapter — and works backwards from there. My approach is consultative, data-driven, and relentlessly focused on the right outcome for you.
This practice is small, and stays small on purpose. It means I get to know the people I work with. I remember the names of their children. I know which decisions kept them up at night last year, and which ones are coming next.

The Team
Salmon Financial Solutions is deliberately small. You won't be passed between account managers, paraplanners and call centres — the person you meet at the first conversation is the person who will know your plan, your circumstances, and your family, for the long run.
Behind the scenes, we work with a trusted network of specialists — paraplanners, solicitors, accountants, mortgage advisers and tax professionals — so that your situation receives the absolute best expertise from the start. You get the intimacy of a small practice, with the depth and experience of a much larger one.
Independence
We are genuinely independent. That means we are not tied to any provider, product range, or parent company — we research the whole of the market and recommend what is genuinely right for you, not what suits a panel.
Independence also shapes the conversation. There is no in-house product to push, no quota to hit, and no incentive to steer you towards one answer over another. The advice you get is the advice we'd give a member of our own family — even when it isn't the easy thing to say.
It is, in our view, the only honest way to do this work.
